Nearby beaches

Sitges has a total of 17 beaches, in and around the main resort. La Fragata is the first of the town’s beaches and is very popular with families thanks to its calm waters, golden sands and beach activities. Sant Sebastia Beach, just south of the old town, is popular with both locals and visitors alike and Ribera Beach (one of the biggest) is also closely located, just by the town centre.

For a quieter beach, head to Anquines, the furthest west of Sitges, which sees fewer visitors. Or you can try Barra Beach, a 20-minute walk from the town centre, which is a great spot for families thanks to its calm, shallow waters.

Local festivals

There are lots of festivals and events taking place throughout the year in Sitges, starting with the Reyes Magos (the Three Wise Men) Parade in January and followed up by the Carnaval de Sitges in February. This is one of the biggest and best carnivals in Spain, pulling in over 300,000 people every year.

June is a very busy month with the Gay Pride Festival, Corpus Christi (when the streets are covered in carpets of flowers) and the Noche de San Juan or St. John's Eve which is celebrated with parties and fireworks. August and September bring with them the Fiesta Mayor de Sitges and the Santa Tecla Sitges, two amazingly fun street festivals with parades and fireworks, and the Wine Festival in October is a great time to visit.

Outdoor activities

There are lots of watersports available from Sitges’ many beaches, including speed boat hire, banana boats and water skiing. In addition, why not try an enjoyable game of golf, paintballing, or a day out at nearby PortAventura.

When to go

Sitges is a year-round destination, thanks to its warm Mediterranean climate and huge year-long calendar of events. However, the best time to go for the best weather is between June and September when Sitges is hottest.
