Things to see and do in Palamos

Palamos has some beautiful beaches, popular with sun-lovers, families and divers. Cala Estreta is perhaps the best, offering shallow waters and plenty of sand. Sandy Platja de Castell is another popular choice, where you’ll find the ruins of an ancient castle.

For obvious reasons, diving and watersports are popular local activities, but for those preferring to stay on the land there are plenty of other activities too. There’s a riding school located nearby, for beach treks and exploring around the coast, as well as tennis courts and plenty of trails for cycling and running.

Top attractions

Aside from the beaches, which are by far the main draw for visitors to Palamos, the local castle ruins, churches and old fishing port are all interesting places to see. Near Platja de Castell beach can be found the ruins of a 6th century Iberian settlement, and the medieval village of Pals is just a short taxi ride away.

The town is also home to some fun and colourful fiestas, such as the San Juan festival in June and the Carmen festival in August, when a procession of boasts fills the sea.

Best restaurants

Fine dining is done well as Restaurante la Fábrica del Gel, where diners will enjoy excellent service and a three course meal. Port Nou is the top spot for seafood, with a varied menu of fish dishes, while the cafeteria-restaurant Can Paco is a great place for some tasty food at very reasonable prices.
